[ About the story: Friends this is an imaginative story where the author(me) is watching the farewell celebration of his seniors, and in his dreams he is going to his last day of B.tech life through a time machine. And the whole story is describing the sentiments and celebrations of the last day. ]
[About the name: “Dusk” means the sunset time when generally cows return to shed. Dawn is the time when the sky grows blood colored before the sun rise. So combinedly this name is describing “ Beginning of an ending”.]

Yahoo …. Ho ho .. ye … hip hip huree … hip hip huree …
This was the cheers of our seniors , 4th year students. It was the last day of their regular classes. Perhaps the last day of attending class room teaching, because for most of the students education ends with bachelor degree. Their excitation and emotions were at their pick. A smile was persisting on my face looking at their joy and celebrations. I was feeling, my heart was growing heavy.
I returned home. I was sitting at the roof of my house, grasping the beauty of moon light. I was thinking the celebration of our seniors. I could not know when I got asleep.
I entered into my world of dreams. The moon was looking even brighter and beautiful. I saw a machine type structure with wings. I guessed it to be a time machine. I ran into it and wished to go to the last day of my college life. It was 2012. I was flying in the sky and watching everything.
Tringggggg…… bell rang..
This was to say that students have five more minutes to their exam. I was very excited to see the face expression of my friends, batch mates after the final exam of the final semester of the final year of their educational life.
Oh…..now it’s time, the final bell rang. Now exam finished. In a minute whole if the students of our batch started coming out of the exam halls. The whole batch was jumping with excitation …I found me too in the crowd cheering.
Yaa …yahoo…oo…la la la …
The campus was filled with our crowd.
One guy asked another one : hey, howz ur exam ?
Reply: f*** exam yaar , its over now. I am a graduate..ha ha ..oo..hooo…
Everyone came running in front of the central library. It was a high happy state. Whole of my batch is now dancing without any music. I am running sort of words to express that emotion because emotions have no language it can only be felt.
A get together party was planned to celebrate the last evening in our college. Till that time I decided to roam around my college. I went to the classroom where our classes were going on..it was empty but not the blackboard. it was filled with so many statements in so many handwritings.
Miss u ….
Love u …..
Never forget me …
Phir milenge chalte chalte …
I gonna miss my college days …
Zindagi na milegi dobaara …
**** na milegi dobaara…
36-24-36 na milegi dobaara …
Ha ha and many more ….
I added a smiley face to the black board.
I could see, my day scholar friends along with me were in the college bus. The bus was seeming like a picnic bus.. Cheers …roars…
Babuuuu …odia proverbs mixed up with slangs was quite funny and was making sense. Though all the time we were complaining about bus facility but today ….everyone was enjoying the last trip on the bus. So many emotions were indulged in the college buses starting from the first year ragging of seniors ,last moment preparation for semsters, cheering for the odia proverbs sung by kaviraj(dev) , commenting on girls all at a time. We have not even spared madams. Couples were also missing their days when they were sitting side by side in bus. Many more emotions are still there. Even the broken seats were also seeming so close at that moment. The buses left the college, the roar of cheer was growing to make the moments more and more enjoyable. The sound was still audible though the buses were out of sight.
Then I moved towards hostels. My friends were celebrating their last day in different different way. Sound was coming from rooms: LAN counterstrike match…terrorist, anti-terrorist, fotra, AK, smoke… etc.. Some others were engaged in drink …Some of them were having branded & some managed with desi. Some other rooms were filled up with friends watching movies even download was going on, after all hum paisa jo dete hai internet k liye.. Guys having GF were kept themselves in a corner & talking to their dears. After today they may not get chances to meet each other.
Some naturally artificial sound was coming from a room. I went towards that room. A gathering of my friends were watching something on lapy ,that I could not and should not mention. Oh common yaar, if I will tell, they were watching porn ,then they will lose their privacy na. So I prefer not to say anything.
Now I left the boys hostels. Again I fly towards college buildings. I saw the ladies hostel. I had never ever entered into this. A thought came to me : “sapne me hun na ..kaun mujhe 500 fine magega.” So I was in a mood to execute my plan. I moved towards the main gate.
Saala kaminon ka ek bada fauj pehle se line pe laga tha , wo bhi mere tarah sapne me ghusne ki kosis kar rahe the…
It was time 6pm by my watch. It’s party time. Girls were coming out of the hostel on saari, jeans, sleeveless..etc.. I was feeling as If watching a fashion show. Guys from boy’s hostels were coming to open auditorium. Three buses filled up with day scholars including me came from town. Guys came out of buses. Clean shave, spectacles, new look of hair styles, fashionable jeans, t-shirts, party wears, shoes…etc…for guys. Girls too were not less dressed. They were on saari, jeans, hair styles, high heels, a thick layer of cosmetics on face, must be a preparation of 3 hours at least before the dressing table.
Everyone reached the open auditorium. Everyone was looking so gorgeous & hot. A smile of inner joy was persisting on every face.
Music started!!!
Our batch was a splendid combination of all categories of guys. First category of guys, were having bf/gf. They had enjoyed their bachelor life with someone who loves & cares for them. They were quite sentimental because after that there are mere chances of getting together. The first song was dedicated to them. They were enjoying their moments with music.
Pehla nasha pehla khuma …
Second category mein wo the jinhe sach muchh nasha chadh gaya tha. They were dancing to their extent on every song.
The second song was dedicated to the third category: singles of our batch means we guys.
Char baj gaye lekin party abhi baki hai …from the movie FALTU. We danced heavily. Everyone was dancing from the inner joy. Even those girls whom we used to comment were also enjoying our dancing from a distance. There was no impulse to show their anger because it was the last day & they have forgotten everything for that moment. Among all these enjoyment, there was one missing factor that we used to feel when we were watching the couples. After all its like “delhi ka ladoo” jo khaya pastaya jo nhi khaya pastaya. We cheered to play a song of more dancing bits. The DJ played the next song full of dancing bits.
DANGEROUS…..
Who knows how to dance on these songs.
Abe hatao be. Kaun saala Michel Jackson dance kar raha hai.
The next song truly drag every one to dance. It was dedicated to all the Sheilas and munnis of our college. You will go crazy of you could see the belly dancing of we boys all at a time on those songs. These are captured on digicams.
There was too nagin dance & many more dance forms that might be unknown to “Dance India Dance “ people.
The DJ played the last song.
“I gonna miss my college days ….”
A wind of emotions ran in each and every heart. Everyone got emotional. All came together waving hands all together. It was quite amazing.
In a minute it was over. Then it was the photo session. Everyone started taking with friends,batches,branch,bf/gf. One can read the emotions from the faces, and it was telling how important that day for them.
Still there were guys, watching some girls in stolen eyes. Saala chaar saal line marte marte chala gaya ,lekin kabhi apna haal-e-dil jataa na sake.
The night was growing deeper. No one was wishing to go and miss even a single moment.
A cold wind came from the south direction. What a joy. Then a few droplets of water fall on my face. Oh what a romantic situation is this…??? I started singing …
Pehla nasha…pehla…
Suddenly it started raining heavily. Nasha tuth gaya. neend bhi. Sapna adha rah gaya. I ran into my house. This was truly an awesome dream. Guys this is my suggestion : there is only one year left so enjoy your life to its best. Neither these days nor these friends will come again in this life.
Kal ko sayad apko pastana na pade ki maine apna bachelor life thik se celebrate v nhi kar paya . bade bade sapno ko pura karne ki chakkar mein chotte chotte happy moments ko kuchal dena kahan tak sahi hey.
So here I would like to put the best dialogue from my favorite movie guzzarish :
“ life bahat chotti he doston…
Magar dil se jiye to bahot hey…
So go on:
Break the rules,
Forgive quickly,
Love truly,
Kiss slowly,
Do everything that makes you smile and never do anything that breaks your smile.
With love ,
Gupteswar Mahapatro
